New Watch List
Welcome to the Breakpoint Trades Watch List! The Trade ideas listed on the Watch List come from out exhaustive scanning of the Market each day to try and narrow down what we believe are the most likely candidates for providing profitable trades to our members. Ultimately the Watch List is an idea list and while we will go through many of the features below, we also envision members taking trades from the Watch List and monitoring them in their own real time trading platform. |
The watch list trade ideas below are geared toward short term swing trading; the average hold time for the watch list trades is about 2 weeks long, with some lasting more than a month. However we also have a separate list for Long Term swing trades where we will place trade ideas from time to time that we think can be held for possibly months. In order to be a successful trader, follow these tips: Play setups with a good reward/risk ratio of at least 3:1 or higher. Don't get complacent, keep your discipline, have stops in place, and take some profits along the way. All it takes is one or two good trades a week to make a living, and one good trade pays for your membership for the whole year! Also remember that you don't have to play the market every day, the famous Trader 'Jesse Livermore' said that he made most of his money sitting out of the market waiting for opportunities and high reward/low risk plays to set up; the point is, don't force trades and over trade! 1.) As with the older Watch List, we have a section for News and Notes at the top. 2.) The completed Trades are now managed on the side with a link to view the entire list but no longer clouds up the page making it much longer than it needs to be. 3.) The Table itself has gone through many changes including the additional of Volume Percentage (Vol%) analysis. This has often been a rally cry of the traders here that these set-ups need to not just break certain levels but do so with conviction. This feature tries to help traders quickly see if the volume is on pace to be above, at or below the 60 day average volume. 4.) Many of the Table columns are the same as they were in the previous Watch List. For those of you new to the site, the "Date Added" represents the date we posted the stock. The "L/S" column denotes whether it will be a long or short trade which is then followed by the ticker "Symbol" and the targeted "Breakpoint". Please note the breakpoint will occasionally be a few things or a trigger besides price and in those situations we will make a comment to refer to the chart. We then provide a "Stop" and price "Target" for the position if it is available and occasionally we will not fill these columns in until after the stock has triggered. The "Volume" analysis covers current, percentage and the 60 day avg. Have a favorite stock set-up? We list the "Pattern" as well as the "Sector", "Price", and the "Change". Lastly, but certainly not least each column located on the table is sort able so you can easily locate a symbol, volume, patterns or any other column that you would like to have bunched together. 5.) When you click anywhere on the line of the stock, with the exception of the "Alarm" bubble, you will receive the chart and comments for the symbol. This chart will display in a new window and if you would like to view all the charts at once, you can use our "All Charts, One Page" link which will display all the charts on one page with comments for easy viewing. 6.) The feature we are most excited for is clearly the Live Alerts. BPT management realizes that members don't need to be alerted when stocks trigger but they need to be made aware of the situation in advance. We will program the stock with an alert that we feel will both be close enough to the actual breakpoint to provide a high likelihood of success but also far enough away to provide the members time to react. Upon reaching the selected price you will receive two alerts. The first is the line containing the stock will begin blinking and secondly there will be an audio alert that will read the symbol as well as warn you that a trigger is near. Please note the the alert feature is being managed with delayed data which can cause discrepancies but we do have an add on subscription for BPT Members where you can receive real time alerts to your email and cell phone, please click the badge on the left nad side for details or CLICK HERE! If you no longer need or want the alert then you can disable by clicking inside the bubble under the "Alarm" column. You will know that you disabled the alarm because a red "X" will fill the bubble and remain there. So how should it all flow? The way we envision the Watch List being used is a new member would check in each morning to see what new ideas were added from the night before as well as read up on our notes and view the chart. They would decide which trades work best for their situation (money allocation, risk, portfolio weighting etc.) and enter them into their trading portfolio. Upon the trade closing above the breakpoint the member would liekly be in any trade they chose and we would then move the idea from the Untriggered to the Triggered section. From their our focus becomes making notes and managing stops and targets for the position. A member now will log in to see new ideas and get out latest thoughts on the Triggered ideas. Upon the trade being closed it will move to completed and we are on to the next. Miss a trade from the List? There will always be more. Get in a trade that doesn't close broken out and therefore isn't triggered? You can use the initial stop we list to manage the position and we will list it completed accordingly if it get's stopped out. Have a stock that gaps or just cannot wait until that night or the next morning toread the comments? Visit the Trading Community and post your question there, not only will a BPT Representative answer but other members might share what they are doing with their position.
